Smt. Vanaja Raghavan, his mother was his first guru.  He learnt the basics from her.

Thiruvenkadu Sri. A. Jayaraman was his next Guru under whom Giri learnt more krithis of Harikesanallur Sri Muthiah Baghavatar.  He was very much motivated by Sri. T.A.J. to try Kalpanaswara  singing which proved successful over a period of time.

Padmavibhushan Dr. Mangalampalli Sri. Balamuralikrishna has been Giri’s dream whose music has been innate into Giri for years.  As an Eklaiva, he learnt Krithis like Devaadhideva, Telialeru rama, Enthamudhu & so on and also perform them on the platform. 

     Giri is now getting more refined by the living legend, veteran, Shri Guruji, for the best voice culture, clear pronunciation, tonal modulation and expressive music.
